Dear Bookstore,
How many times have you dried my eyes? Who knew ambiance music, soft yellow display lights and shelves of books I’ve had no time to read could be so comforting?
I wave hello and goodbye to your resident greeter, forever dressed for the cold weather, forever smiling from ear to ear. I will never forget her senior citizen afro and the way she made me feel welcome in this place.
You make me sad to go home. If I could I would take you with me.
But, tell me, who could pack a building in a box?

Walking home from Switzler Hall after another sad day, head bowed down and shoulders slumped
Planned to cry it out
Looked up to cross the street, see where I was going
Speaker’s Circle.
Lo and behold: a guy in a penguin suit holding up a sign
“Free hugs,” it said.
Who would pass that up?
I didn’t.
